Washing clothes would be fun...

If I could hang them on this washing line!

Designed in 1939...

Hard to believe this was designed in 1939 -
The Isokon Penguin Donkey was originally designed to store penguin books, I'd love one for my bedroom - BUT they are pricey at approx 800euro!

Technicolour Cinema...

Next time I'm in Dublin I'll be visiting the Lighthouse Cinema - I think all movies would seem better when viewed in such colourful surroundings.

Our wedding day...

I have been meaning to photograph our wedding invites for a long time but because they are quite hard to capture I've been putting it off!! I took some shots today. I loved designing our invites - I combined our initials and added two love birds. The photo doesn't do the paper justice - I used SKIN from the Curious Collection. It has the nicest texture and finish. I used a clear vinyl to achieve a glossy finish, the effect was black on black so that you had to tilt the card to catch the light to get the full effect. One of my bridesmaids gave us a gift of two Panton chairs which we used in the church - I hung two little black birds to replicate our invite.

I printed the little stickers on moo and the quality was great. We hung cones from the pews and my flowers were Boris Becker Chrysanthemums which I had remembered seeing and my florist kindly traced for me. I spent months searching for ribbon... I used 3 types - a simple polka dot or stripe on the invites and this amazing silk ribbon from Hyman Hendler in New York. One of our groomsmen ended up collecting it while on a trip there and spent 3 days trying to find the shop!! I'm pretty sure I wrecked his head but it was worth it when it arrived - it was used for the Bridesmaids bouquets and the cake. My stunning bridesmaids wore black fishtail gowns from coast - as one is very, very tall we had to add some length to the dresses and they turned out to be even more stunning.

I used different variations of our initials on the Mass Booklets and thank you cards. As our church was an hour from the our hotel (The Brehon in Kilarney - HIGHLY recommend them) we gave our guests bottles of water and lovely black & white sweets for the journey.

I LOVED my dress - it's by Vera Wang and is now for sale if anyone is interested! My shoes were gorgeous snake skin from a little boutique in the Winthrop Arcade. I ordered this ring holder from Palomas Nest and I have since lent it to friends and I'm keeping a list and hoping to pass it on to many generations.
I arranged Mentalist Liam Sheehan as a suprise for my husband - he was superb. He arrived dressed like a guest and meandered through the room doing fantastic card tricks and reading peoples minds!

It really was the best time ever, I loved all the planning and would love to be doing it all again!

Yummy...

Oh how lucky I am to be married to a chef - last night he threw this gorgeous mexican tortilla together - no fuss, preped and in the oven
in no time and the kitchen was gleaming - no wonder I drive him mad
when I cook, it's the total opposite including the fact that the food doesn't
taste very good!

Perfect for Dog owners...

I came across these rugs before but lost the link - so I was delighted to find them again... only issue is I can't decide which rug I love the most, I'm looking for a runner for my hall and they are perfect for those with four legged friends as they are made from plastic and they are machine washable. Designed by Pappelina which has a great website. They are sold in Inreada in Dublin and online here.

Dog sitting...

We were minding my sister-in-laws dog for the last 2 days - Lulu a Shitzu... she's so cute and the 2 dogs together really cheered me up on what has been a bad few weeks. Lia loves Lulu when she's on Lulu's turf but she's not so sure when she sees Lulu's bed arriving here. She's been very jealous this time... you see Lulu is small and only sheds moderately so she manages to make her way on to the couch whereas Lia is HUGE and sheds by the truck load so we have a strict "no Lia on the hair magnet of a couch" rule but try telling that to a husky... I came into the living this morning to find this scene... this is the conversation I imagine they were having...
Lia: Busted... this is all your fault...

Lulu: I'm outa here... laters...

Lia: ok if I ignore her she won't give out...

Lia: maybe if I try my cutest face she'll let me stay...

Lia: that seemed to work...this really is the life... I could get used to this...

Lia: crap was that a car door... if that's my daddy I'm in BIG trouble...

I love lazy Saturday morning coffee...

Oh how I love lazy Saturday mornings - I'm usually more of a Barry's Tea girl but when I have the time I love to make nice coffee the old fashioned way - I've tried loads of coffee makers and while the Nespresso is very good I still think a percolator and frother from Bodum are the best.

Abigail Ahern...

Probably the first blog I check every day is that of Abigail Ahern. Her posts are witty, inspiring and fascinating as her life sounds so amazing - she runs Atelier Abigail Ahern an online store with 2 shops in London. I adore her use of color and eclectic style.

Simple & effective packaging...

Danish company Scanwood make practical kitchen utensils but in a beautiful understated way. Their packaging reflects this and is simple but so effective.
